Newark Census Data To Be Released Today

Newark residents will find out how many people call the city home when the U.S. Census Bureau announces new results from its 2010 count later today.

According to a census report released in December, more people have moved out of Newark since the 2000 headcount. The 2005-2009 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates shows Newark’s population dropped from 42,471 residents in 2000 to 41,617 residents in 2006.

The 2010 Census report shows California is the most populous state in the country with a population of 37.2 million.
