Newark Man Taped Shouting Racial Slurs On Freeway Arrested: CHP

Tracy Robert Blackwell was arrested Friday after a viral video shows him shouting the N-word at another car and driving erratically.

NEWARK, CA — A Newark man was arrested Friday after being caught in a viral video shouting racial slurs and driving erratically.

Tracy Robert Blackwell, 61, was arrested Friday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with hate crime enhancements, according to the California Highway Patrol.

An Instagram video posted Tuesday, which has garnered over 113,000 views as of Friday evening, shows Blackwell driving a white Jeep Wrangler along southbound I-880. He flips his middle finger to the camera and shouts the N-word and the F-word multiple times. He then appears to try to ram the occupant’s vehicle with his car before he loses control, nearly crashes into an exit wall, and then skids into the middle of the lane.

The incident took place near the Hegenberger Road exit in Oakland on Tuesday at about 4 p.m., according to the CHP.

“I never thought this could happen to me, but ay doe this Oakland,” wrote user nunu2fyee in a caption.

Blackwell is currently booked at Alameda County Jail in Dublin.
