Newark Memorial High Alumna Takes Over as Ohlone College Head Coach for Women's Water Polo
Alyssa Hess was a 4-time All-MVAL player for the Newark Memorial High Cougars.

Ohlone College welcomes Alyssa Hess as the new Head Coach for Women’s Water Polo. Alyssa Hess comes to Ohlone College after graduating from Azusa Pacific University with her B.A. in Physical Education. Her love and passion for water polo began in the Ohlone Renegades Water Polo Club under Joseph Martinez and Gene Kendall IV in 2001.
“The Ohlone Renegades Water Polo Club is where I found my passion for the sport. I am extremely excited to be part of a program where I learned and grew as a player and student of the game. This is a place I call home.”

She continued her career at Newark Memorial High School under the direction of Coach Gordon Crosby where Alyssa was a 4-time All-MVAL player for the Cougars. Alyssa returns to Ohlone College with hopes of creating a strong and successful program.
While attending Azusa Pacific, Alyssa played 4 years of NCAA Division II water polo. In her first year, Alyssa became the single game leading scorer and the single-season leading scorer in 2011.
