Newark Police Arrest 13 For Drugs, DUI, Outstanding Warrants

One suspect had brass knuckles on him when he was arrested, according to police.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police have announced the arrests of 13 people from Thursday through Sunday. The suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, outstanding warrants and violation of a court order.

The suspects are from Fremont, Hayward and San Jose, but the majority are from right here in Newark.

2027 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 38-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop on the 36200 block of Ruschin Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

A 33-year-old Newark female was also arrested for her outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

Saturday, Aug. 4

0723 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 4900 block of Farnham Drive. A 23-year-old Hayward male was contacted and arrested for violation of a court order. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1801 hours: Officers responded to a solo vehicle non-injury collision on Mowry Avenue at Rockrose Drive. A 34-year-old San Jose female was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

1939 hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 39-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Hwy. 880. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

Friday, Aug. 3

2043 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. A 43-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0048 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 28-year-old Fremont male for driving under the influence and possession of brass knuckles during a traffic stop on Central Avenue at Filbert Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

Thursday, Aug. 2

0821 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrant when she self-surrendered in the Police Department Lobby. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0919 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Fremont male for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a fictitious check and an outstanding warrant in the Police Department Lobby. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1624 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 27-year-old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on Dairy Avenue near Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2244 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant as he exited his vehicle on the 6400 block of Baine Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2315 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 38-year-old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2356 Hours: Officers responded to a single vehicle non-injury accident on Willow Street at Enterprise Drive. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence and was transported to the Police Station where he was later issued a citation and released.
