Newark Police Arrest 4 on Guns, Drug Charges

A patrol officer noticed suspicious activity and investigated what the men were up to.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police arrested four men last Friday night on weapons and drug charges.

Officer Khairy was patrolling at 9:45 p.m. when he noticed a man in a hotel parking lot toss a handgun under a parked vehicle. According to the officer, there were three more men in an adjacent vehicle with a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was on searchable parole. A search of the vehicle yielded a second handgun and a large quantity of marijuana packaged for sale.

All four of the men were arrested. Their names have not been released. However, all three men in the vehicle are from Fremont while the man outside the vehicle is from Hayward.

The hotel is located on Gateway Boulevard.
