NEWARK, CA — An 18-year-old San Leandro man was shot and killed early on Aug. 17 in Newark, police announced Thursday.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 8000 block of Compass Way at 1:45 a.m. that Monday morning found the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and firefighters gave him medical aid, but he died at the scene.
Police did not release the man's name.

They are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
