Newark Police Issue Dozens of Tickets Monday Morning
They were cracking down on drivers who failed to yield for pedestrians.

After several recent crashes, the Newark Police Department is cracking down on drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Monday morning they conducted a Pedestrian Traffic Safety Operation.
non-uniformed members of the Newark Police Department crossed streets in marked pedestrian crosswalks while officers monitored drivers’ compliance.
The result: 68 citations and 23 verbal warnings. There were also 7 unlicensed drivers caught during the operation.
