Officers are patrolling another East Bay city Wednesday in an effort to make safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

NEWARK, CA — The Newark Police Department has joined a High Intensity Traffic Team consisting of officers, sergeants and professional staff from San Leandro, the Hayward Police Department, Newark, Fremont Police Department, and California Highway Patrol.

The team is patrolling San Leandro Wednesday looking for speeding vehicles, seatbelt violations, distracted drivers on their cell phones, and any other dangerous driving habits which could cause a crash.

According to San Leandro Police, "The goal of this operation is to deter dangerous driving, while educating the public, and enforcing the laws which commonly result in injury crashes or fatal collisions."
