Newark Police Make 16 Arrests In One Week

NEWARK, CA — The Newark Police Department reports that officers arrested 16 people between Christmas and New Year's Eve on a variety of crimes including battery, possessing an unlicensed gun, and drugs. The suspects are from Newark, Hayward, San Jose, San Lorenzo, Stockton, and from out of state.

Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019

4:04 p.m.: During vehicle check around the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue, Officer Hernandez contacted a 51-year old man out of Hayward and a 34-year old man out of Newark sitting in the vehicle. Both subjects were active searchable probation. Both were arrested for the use of a controlled substance, possession for sale of methamphetamine, and the violation of probation terms. They were booked at Santa Rita Jail.

7:10 a.m.: Officer Herrera contacted and arrested a 59-year old man out of Newark in the 35000 block of Newark Boulevard for his misdemeanor warrants. He was issued new court dates and released.
9:35 a.m.: Officer Swadener contacted and arrested a 62-year old man out of Newark for a felony warrant in the 35000 block of Dumbarton Court. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
7:43 p.m.: Officer Damewood contacted and arrested a 41-year old man out of Hayward in the area of Albyn Court for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.

1:32 a.m.: Officer Damewood contacted and arrested a 38-year old man out of Hayward in the area of Sycamore Street and Thornton Avenue for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for an outstanding warrant. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
11:06 a.m.: Officer Herrera contacted and arrested a 43-year old man transient in the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue for possession of methamphetamine. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
8:46 p.m.: Officers responded a report of a disturbance in the 37000 block of Dahila Drive. Officer San Pedro contacted and arrested a 24-year old man out of Newark for battery and violation of probation terms. He was booked at Fremont Jail.
11:35 p.m.: Officers contacted and arrested a 20-year old woman out of San Jose for a felony warrant in the 5500 block of Cedar Court. She was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
11:56 p.m.: Officers contacted and conducted a probation search on a 28-year old man out of San Lorenzo in the 5500 block of Cedar Court. Officer Damewood located heroin, heroin paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

2:28 a.m.: Officer Riddles contacted and arrested a 26-year old man out of Hayward at the 35000 block of Cedar Boulevard for warrants and for possession of ammunition. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
11:30 a.m.: Officer Rivera contacted and arrested a 39-year old man out of Stockton in the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue for an outside agency warrant and possession of heroin. He was cited and released.
4:10 p.m.: During a traffic enforcement stop at the intersection of Guava Drive and Mockorange Court. Officer McCuin contacted and arrested an 18-year old man out of Hayward for possession of an unregistered loaded handgun in a vehicle and possession of marijuana for the purpose of sales. He was booked into Fremont Jail.

3:40 AM: Officers contacted and arrested a 43-year old man out of Texas at the 5500 block of Cedar Court for an outside agency warrant and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked at Santa Rita Jail.
9:18 PM: Officer Swadener contacted an 18-year old man out of Stockton during a traffic stop. He was cited for his misdemeanor warrants and released.

Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019

3:29 a.m.: Officers contacted and arrested a 21-year-old man at the 6300 Block of Newpark Mall. He was booked on charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools.
