Newark Police Make 9 Arrests In 3 Days
On St. Patrick's Day, a Newark man was picked up for fighting in the parking lot of an Irish bar, while another was arrested for DUI.

NEWARK, CA — Newark Police report 9 arrests between Saturday and Monday, including for DUI, drugs, fighting and outstanding warrants.
March 17:
- Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop on the 6700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
- Officer Taylor contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for battery on a person and disorderly conduct while conducting a security check of O’Sullivan’s Bar parking lot, 5660 Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
- Officer Slavazza conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle swerving on Stevenson Boulevard at Farwell Drive. The driver, a 25-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
- Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 21-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a traffic stop on the 7800 block of Wells Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

- Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 24-year-old transient female for her outstanding warrants on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
- Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Fremont male for possession of a controlled substance on the 5400 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
March 19
- Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 41-year-old Salinas male for disorderly conduct on the 5900 block of Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
- Officer Hunter contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Newark male for being under the influence of a controlled substance and probation violation on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
- Officer Palacio responded to a disturbance at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. A 19-year-old San Jose female was arrested for disorderly conduct and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
