We asked Patch Readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "Speeding on Lido is a big one. We've lived on that street for 20 plus years and it awful now. Also, the crosswalk by the tortilla factory on Thornton is horrible - people never stop to let pedestrians cross!"
  • "Musick Avenue, very frequent cars speeding down the street - especially with a school. We need speed bumps on this street."
  • "I hope Newark Police Department sees this post or whomever needs to take action. Speed traps, police cars, speed bumps. Anything that will help slow people down."
  • "Crosswalk at Newark Blvd and Brittany Street. They need to put up the blinking crosswalk."
  • "Cars speeding always on Mulberry Street between Dairy and Thornton. Every single day. They need speed bumps and hopefully before someone gets hurt."
  • "The youngsters with guns, tagging, speeding all through Thornton and every other back road."
  • "Traffic light needed at Smith and Cedar. You have to pull out too far to see SB traffic. Difficult in a school bus"
  • "Mini sideshows on Willow, Cedar, Bridge Point. Terrible!"
  • "Speeding in residential areas, Cherry Avenue is now a 880 Bypass."
  • "Speeding on Haley between Cedar and Mayhews Landing. Need speed bumps. Especially by the school crosswalk."
