Newark Road Closures This Weekend

NEWARK, CA — The 95th Annual Holy Ghost Parades will take place in Newark on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

Newark Police are advising residents about these Saturday road closures 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.:

• Northbound Cherry Street from Plummer Avenue to Thornton Avenue
• Plummer Avenue from Cherry Street to Arden Street
• Galletta Drive

Sunday road closures 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

• Thornton Avenue (all eastbound lanes) between Cherry Street and Saint Edwards Street. The following intersections that intersect with Thornton Avenue will be closed to thru-traffic at Arden Street (southbound), Newark Blvd (north and southbound), and Birch Street (southbound).
• All trucks that normally travel on northbound Cherry Street to Thornton Avenue are advised to use Central Avenue to northbound Cedar Boulevard to return to eastbound Thornton Ave. Westbound Thornton Ave. truck traffic is advised to use Central Avenue to Filbert Street., to Enterprise Drive. to Willow Street. All motorists are advised to follow all detours and exercise caution while driving through the area.

Watch for special "No Parking" signs. Vehicles will be towed to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
