Newark Sideshow Ends In Arrest, Vehicle Impounded

The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

NEWARK, CA — Traffic came to a standstill on northbound I-880 Friday night as two groups held a sideshow between Stevenson Boulevard and Thornton Avenue.

According to Newark Police Officer Slavazza, around 300 people were watching the sideshow.

According to a social media post from police, "Officers, aware of the sideshow on 880, drove to Campus Court and observed vehicles engaged in sideshow activity within the court." One vehicle was “spinning doughnuts” while people gathered to watch. The vehicle spinning donuts was stopped and the driver was arrested for reckless driving. The vehicle was towed for a 30-day impound.

At that point, the rest of the crowd left the area.
