Photo: Possum Momma and Her 5 Babies

NEWARK, CA - Newark Patch reader Viviana Patterson shared this photo of a momma possum with her five babies walking down her backyard fence.

Unfortunately, the stroll was not without drama. Patterson explains, " As we watched her maneuver around a rose bush we were held captive as one baby's legs started to swing from side to side only to fall to the ground. My son suggested using a plank to help the baby back to it's momma so between that and a dog scooper we were able to rise her (trembling and chittering) back within a foot of momma and they reunited and left! Nice to have a happy ending."
