Salvation Army Hayward Seeking Volunteers
The Salvation Army serves families in Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and Sunol.

The Salvation Army Hayward is looking to fill two open volunteer positions. The Salvation Army Hayward is in need of a volunteer Grant Writer and a volunteer Facilities Manager.
Grant Writer:
The Salvation Army relies on donations and grants to do what we feel is important, serve others. We seek a volunteer grant writer to assist with identifying, writing and securing grants for our programs. Prior grant writing experience is necessary. Familiarity with aspects of grant writing for non-profits would be helpful.

The grant-writing volunteer must have excellent written communication and editing skills, organizational and time-management skills, an interest in Salvation Army fundraising and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This is an unpaid position. We are happy to work with academic institutions to facilitate opportunities to obtain credit or university-sponsored stipends.

Responsibilities:
- Grant application assistance (inputting written templates into online applications).
- Prepare, submit and manage grant proposals.
- Report writing and editing support.
- Conducting research related to development projects.
- Compiling documents and related attachments for grant applications.
- Administrative support as needed.
The Salvation Army Hayward Corps seeks a volunteer Facilities Manager to assist Corps Officers in identifying issues, upkeep and ongoing maintenance of current and future Salvation Army Hayward facilities.
The position will require approximately 10 hours’ volunteer service per month. The Facilities Manager will also study current and future programming and advise current and future Corps Officers about future needs/issues for The Salvation Army in Hayward. The appointee will be involved in both strategic planning and monthly operations, particularly in relation to buildings and premises, and assist Corps Officers to determine and schedule renovation projects and safety inspections.
Responsibilities:
- Inspection and projection of issues.
- Plans, organizes, supervises and advises the facilities maintenance operations of the Salvation Army Hayward Corps.
- Coordinates, assigns, directs, weekly, monthly, yearly schedules.
- Establishes job priorities and time frames for maintenance.Monitors completion of major job assignments through frequent field observation and inspections.
- Serves as a representative for The Salvation Army of Hayward.
- Oversee maintenance activities within The Salvation Army, including work performed by contractors or sub-contractors.
- Responds professionally to requests for information regarding the structure and maintenance of The Salvation Army Hayward Corps, including questions, concerns and complaints.Creates and develops documents related to maintenance projects.
Develops specifications and makes recommendations on capital equipment purchases.Determines the need for outside contractors to be involved in construction projects.
Qualified applicants should have previous contractor and maintenance experience. The Facilities Manager must have excellent written communication, editing, organizational and time-management skills, an interest in Salvation Army facilities and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.This is an unpaid position.
