Newark Unified School District considering more housing and less open space?
The Newark Unified School District will be considering a number of locations for faculty housing on Tues 12/6/2016 7pm.

At a school board meeting on November 15, 2016, Newark Unified School District has begun work with Dutra Cerro Graden ("DCG") on an Asset Management Plan and Facility Strategic Plan for 2030.

- Convert Schilling Elementary to Schilling K-8
- Co-locate the District Corporate / Maintenance Yard from its current location in Old Town and Administrative Offices at its current location at Musick alongside MacGregor eliminating open space at MacGregor and Musick



For the past decade, the City of Newark has had one of the lowest developer fees throughout the Bay Area. The City of Newark has allowed a number of developers to not build any affordable housing units allowing funds to instead be donated into an affordable housing fund. Some developers did not even have to pay the affordable housing fee.
