Thieves Targeting Tools In Thefts From Pickups

Newark Police have taken 8 reports of stolen tools from vehicles since the middle of the month.

NEWARK, CA — If you make your living using tools, make sure the tool box on your pickup is always locked — Newark Police have taken multiple reports this month about tools thefts. In fact, there have been 8 reports in just the last 10 days.

Officers don't always specify what type of vehicle was burglarized.

2153 hours: Officer Slavazza investigated the theft of tools from an unlocked toolbox in the bed of a pickup on the 35900 block of Burning Tree Terrace.

1244 Hours: Officer Wilkerson investigated the theft of construction tools from the back of a pickup truck on the 3000 block of Newpark Mall Road.

0627 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated two auto burglaries on the 5900 block of Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1530 Hours: Officer Palacio investigated an auto burglary on the 5900 block of Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

June 15

0657 Hours: Officer San Pedro investigated an auto burglary at the Comfort Inn, 5977 Mowry Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0700 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary at Chase Suites, 39150 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

1320 Hours: Officer Wang investigated an auto burglary in the Home Depot parking lot, 5401 Thornton Avenue. The loss is miscellaneous tools.
