Update: Traffic Advisory-- Several Major Streets Closed by Diesel Spill

Update: The diesel has been cleaned-up and all roads are re-opened.

Earlier:

The Newark Police Department this morning has issued a traffic alert due to a diesel spill in the area of Mowry Avenue and Cedar Boulevard in Newark.

All northbound traffic for Cedar Boulevard to Birch Street is closed, according to police.

A northbound lane on Cedar Boulevard from North Magazine Road to Mowry Avenue and both eastbound and westbound lanes of Mowry Avenue are also affected with partial closures due to the spill.

Motorists, especially motorcyclists, are cautioned to use alternate routes and reduce their speed due to the spill.

Crews are working to clean up the spill as quickly as possible, according to police.

Police first reported the incident just after 6 a.m.
