Two Newark Men Arrested on Suspicion of Gold Chain Robberies in Fremont

The pair is suspected of being responsible for back-to-back robberies of gold chains on Friday afternoon in the Ardenwood neighborhood.

Police arrested two men Tuesday in connection with a pair of robberies that occurred in Fremont last week. Michael Hilburn, 20, and Milo Anderson, 25, are suspected of being responsible for back-to-back robberies of gold chains on Friday afternoon in the Ardenwood neighborhood. Detectives arrested the suspects, both Newark residents, during a traffic stop at 12:28 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspects’ vehicle matched the one from a photo taken by a witness during the second robbery, police said. The first robbery occurred at 2:36 p.m. Friday in the vicinity of Maybird Circle, when a 43-year-old woman had a gold chain grabbed off her neck, police said. The suspect fled in a vehicle waiting nearby. Then at 5:10 p.m., a gold chain was grabbed from the neck of a 34-year-old woman in the same area.

Police said the suspect approached her from behind, took the jewelry and shoved her to the ground. When the suspect made his escape in a waiting vehicle, an alert witness took a picture of it, police said. The two suspects were booked into jail on suspicion of two counts of robbery, according to police.
