Where to Get Free Sandbags in Newark
A lot of rain is expected this weekend, setting up the possibility of flooding.

NEWARK, CA — Up to four inches of rain could fall in Newark this weekend, witht he heaviest rainfall coming Sunday.
If water has been a problem in prolific storms in the past, it may be time to get some sandbags.
The City of Newark provides 10 sandbags free to residents and businesses. Bring a photo ID.

Since it's the weekend, you need to pick up the empty sandbags from a fire station. Newark Fire Stations locations:
- 7550 Thornton Ave.
- 39039 Cherry St.
- 35775 Ruschin Drive
Once you get the empty bags, take them to the Newark Maintenance Yard to fill them with sand, located at 37440 Filbert St. Bring your own shovel. Fill the sandbags half-full to allow room for tying them closed and so the sandbags can conform to empty spaces as you are placing them.
