NEWPORT BEACH, CA — One person died and a second was left with "significant" injuries in a two-car crash in Newport Beach Saturday, authorities said Monday.The crash was reported at 4:33 p.m. Saturday, after Newport Beach police officers received multiple calls reporting a two-car crash at the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Bowsprit Drive. One driver was pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived to the scene. A second was given emergency care and moved to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The identity of the deceased driver was not released pending next-of-kin notification.The cause of the crash is still under investigation, officers said. Anyone who has any information about the crash was asked to contact Traffic Investigator Austin Laverty at 949-644-3747 or <a href="mailto:alaverty@nbpd.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">alaverty@nbpd.org</a>.
