COSTA MESA, CA — The California Highway Patrol Santa Ana division shut down a large portion of the 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa, Wednesday after receiving a 911 call from a woman driver, stopped in the center divider.

When officers arrived at the scene, southbound on the 55 at Del Mar, they found the woman outside of her vehicle. She was "waving signs that declared her father was a serial killer," according to CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.

She also was armed with a flare gun, he said.

The woman, who was not identified as of this report, told CHP dispatch that she "wanted her story to be heard," and that her father was the "Texas I-45 serial killer."

She made reference to the Killing Fields in Texas, where multiple women were found murdered over many years in an area south of Houston. Her story was unverified and her methods of drawing attention did not impress the CHP.

Ultimately, she was taken into custody without incident, and will undergo 72 hours of medical evaluation, Olivera told Patch.
