7-Foot Waves Possible In Newport Beach Starting Friday
King Tides will return to the Orange County coast through Saturday. Here's what to know in Newport Beach.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach residents will want to stay wary of the waves over the next several days, as the National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazard Advisory through Saturday morning.
Residents can expect seven-foot waves Friday and Saturday mornings as King Tides return to the Southern California coast, the National Weather Service said.
"The King Tides combined with surf of three-to-five feet will produce minor flooding of low-lying beach parking lots and beach boardwalks," the report said. "The combination of high astronomical tides and elevated surf will lead to a threat of minor coastal flooding Saturday morning."
