8+ Acre Brush Fire Injures 2 Teens In OC: OCFA

COSTA MESA, CA — A brush fire that burned roughly 8 1/2 acres of grass Sunday was fully contained by Costa Mesa and Orange County Fire Authority firefighters.

The blaze erupted around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the OCFA. The blaze was reported near 1298 Victoria St., near Pacific Avenue and the Talbert Nature Preserve, the Costa Mesa Fire Department said.

The fire was originally spotted by park rangers, authorities said, and voluntary evacuations for residents on Swan Drive were established and later lifted.

Two teens suffered minor injuries, and one was moved to a local hospital, authorities said.

The fire was fully contained Sunday evening and some firefighters were expected to remain on scene to put out any hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
