A Day to Celebrate Suds

It's National Beer Day—a day set aside to celebrate the Cullen-Harrison Act, which, upon going into effect on April 7, 1933, legalized the sale and consumption of beer containing no more than 3.2 percent alcohol after about 13 years of alcohol prohibition in the U.S. About eight months after Cullen-Harrison, the Volstead Act prohibiting all booze in the U.S. was repealed entirely.
