Aerial Photos Show 8+ Acre Brush Fire In OC

COSTA MESA, CA — A brush fire in Costa Mesa injured two teens and prompted authorities to issue optional evacuation notices Sunday.

While piloting a Joy Air Tours plane, Jamie Schwering captured these striking shots of the fire burning in Costa Mesa near Talbert Park.

The blaze erupted around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. The blaze was reported near 1298 Victoria St., near Pacific Avenue and the Talbert Nature Preserve, the Costa Mesa Fire Department said.

The fire was originally spotted by park rangers, authorities said, and voluntary evacuations for residents on Swan Drive were established and later lifted.

Two teens suffered minor injuries, and one was moved to a local hospital, authorities said.

The fire was fully contained Sunday evening and some firefighters were expected to remain on scene to put out any hot spots.
