The heat advisory is accompanied by a beach hazards advisory due to a predicted surf of up to 7 foot waves Monday through Tuesday evening.

In Newport Beach, temperatures will climb to the high-80s Wednesday through Thursday, with temperatures reaching up to the 90s further inland.

Residents should expect hot and humid conditions with elevated overnight temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

The service urged residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and to check up on relatives and neighbors during the heat advisory.

Daytime outdoor recreation is discouraged, the service said.

"Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events," the National Weather Service said. "Those spending long periods outdoors will be at greater risk for heat health impacts."
