COSTA MESA, CA — The Orange County Fair is back in town, and residents looking for a low-cost ride to the fairgrounds can hop aboard a streamlined shuttle service offered by the Orange County Transportation Authority.
The OC Fair Express will operate every Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 16 and offer guests a direct service from six locations throughout Orange County to the OC Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.
This year, the transportation authority has added a new stop on the shuttle's route, officials said.
The service has proven to be popular among fairgoers as it offers a convenient alternative to driving and parking, allowing riders to relax on the way to and from the fair while helping to reduce traffic congestion in the area.
Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley said that last year, a record-breaking 22,888 passengers avoided traffic and parking by riding the OC Fair Express.
"The City of Costa Mesa can look forward to reduced weekend congestion and a cleaner community due to fewer cars on roads near fairgrounds," Foley said in a statement. "Riding this bus costs less than a cup of coffee."
Riders pay $4 round trip for the shuttle using a Wave card, the Wave mobile app, contactless payment, or exact cash fare on board.
