Big Waves To Hit OC As Weather Heats Up: Advisory

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Be aware, Orange County: The National Weather Service just issued a Beach Hazards Statement for your town.

Coastal Orange County residents should expect a surf of five to seven feet impacting both San Diego and Orange County coastal areas.

The advisory is expected to last through Sunday evening, the service said.

"Increased rip current risk and dangerous swimming conditions," the National Weather Service said in a statement. "Minor coastal flooding possible during evening high tides over the weekend with evening high tides between 5.5 to 6.5 feet."

In addition, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for coastal Orange County, with the highest temperatures being found in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa.

The advisory is expected to last from 10 a.m. Thursday to 8 p.m. Monday.

Coastal Orange County residents can expect temperatures in the mid 80s to lower 90s throughout the duration of the advisory.

"Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors," the National Weather Service said.
