"We've seen the post. The Newport Beach Police Department is aware of social media promoting an organized gathering in the city this weekend," The department wrote in a July 25 statement. "The event is under active investigation, and we are working with our regional partners to identify those involved in organizing or promoting any unlawful activity."

According to authorities, additional deputies were deployed through the weekend to monitor criminal activity in Newport Beach.

"If you're under 18, don't assume you're exempt," the department said. "Juvenile offenses carry serious consequences, and parents or guardians may also be held legally and financially responsible for damages or other unlawful conduct."

The Newport Beach Police Department did not immediately respond to request for comment.
