COSTA MESA, CA — A longstanding Costa Mesa restaurant has closed its doors.
Playa Mesa served its final dish on Aug. 1 after serving the community for eight years.
"Playa Mesa has officially closed its doors," Playa Mesa owners wrote on Instagram. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every meal, every celebration, and every memory. We couldn't have done it without you."
The reason for the closure was not immediately given.
According to a positive review published by The Orange County Register in 2018, critic Brad Johnson wrote, "Just about everything I've tasted so far — and I've sampled a lot — has been good or great or even better."
