NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Four people were injured Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash in Newport Beach, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. on southbound MacArthur Boulevard south of Ford Road, according to authorities.
"Fire crews declared a Level 1 Multi-Casualty Incident (MCI) and transported all four patients to area hospitals for treatment," fire department Public Information Officer David Gibson wrote in an email.
There were no fatalities, police department Public Information Officer Heather Rangel said, adding that the situation was still evolving about an hour after the incident.
Police were investigating the cause of the collision early Wednesday afternoon, according to Gibson, at which time southbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard remained closed in the area as crews cleared the scene. Drivers were encouraged to seek alternate routes until the road reopened.
