• Annual Rosé On The Bay Fundraiser in Newport Beach Supports KidWorks (newportbeachindy.com) — Newport Beach women will gather September 16 at a Lido Isle bayfront home for the Rosé on the Bay fundraiser, aiming to raise $75,000 for KidWorks students. With local residents leading the committee, the evening will feature food, wine, live music, and prizes to support long-term mentorship and education programs for youth from central Santa Ana neighborhoods.
   

• El Niño conditions bringing unusual sea creatures to warming waters off SoCal coast (abc7.com) — Warming El Niño conditions are drawing rare tropical sea creatures into Southern California waters, including off Newport Beach, where several species of devil rays were recently spotted. Local fishermen and divers describe close encounters with these rays and even a juvenile whale shark, as sea surface temperatures near 80 degrees and more unusual visitors may appear.
