OC Parks Claims Space At John Wayne Airport For Arriving Visitors

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Starting Wednesday, Travelers arriving at John Wayne Airport Wednesday can get a preview of Orange County's historic sites, beaches, parks and other destinations through a new OC Parks campaign on display at baggage claim.

The "Claim Your OC Parks Adventure" campaign features six three-dimensional installations at baggage claim carousels in Terminals A, B and C, each highlighting a different aspect of the county's park system.

The displays promote OC Parks' regional, wilderness and historic parks, beaches, fossil collection and the OC Zoo, along with events and programs available across nearly 60,000 acres of parkland.

"These installations highlight the unique outdoor experiences waiting to be discovered across our County park system, including fossil beds, stunning regional parks and more," Orange County Board of Supervisors Chair Doug Chaffee said. "Each display captures the spirit of our diverse park offerings and encourages visitors to begin their next adventure waiting just beyond the airport doors."

The six displays include custom scenescapes, corresponding travel posters and maps of county parks. QR codes direct travelers to an interactive map and information about OC Parks facilities, and postcards are available for travelers.

Two installations are located in Terminal A. "Claim Your Play Day" highlights the county's regional parks, while "Claim Your Local History" features a replica of the Old Orange County Courthouse and promotes the county's historic sites.

"Baggage claim is the perfect place for showcasing our beautiful parks and the many things we offer to the public," Supervisor Janet Nguyen said. "Orange County has everything from a zoo to wilderness areas and some of California's most gorgeous coastline -- come see for yourself!"

Terminal B features "Claim Your Fossil Find," which includes a faux excavation pit promoting the county's fossil collection, some specimens from which are displayed at Ralph B. Clark Regional Park. The terminal also features "Claim Your Outdoor Escape," with a life-sized mountain bike, hiking boots, native plants and other elements representing the county's wilderness parks.

Terminal C features "Claim Your Coastal Getaway," depicting an Orange County beach day, and "Claim Your Wild Side," which highlights the OC Zoo and animals native to the Southwest.
