Anaheim Uber Driver Arrested In Alleged Kidnappings

An Uber driver, an Orange County resident, was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to kidnap a carful of passengers.

ANAHEIM, CA —An Orange County Uber driver allegedly attempted to kidnap multiple riders, Wednesday, police said. The 35-year-old Anaheim resident, driver Khaled Elsayedsa Ali, allegedly refused to stop and let at least one woman out of his car on Wednesday evening, according to a statement taken by the authorities.

The unidentified victim called 911 and suggested Ali might be armed with a gun, and had threatened to kidnap her, according to the Santa Monica Police.

Officers located (Ali's) vehicle and attempted to stop him, but he fled with two additional victims still inside the car, Los Angeles Police Department, Lt. Saul Rodriguez said.

The pursuit of Ali's Uber ended at Montana Avenue and Bundy Drive.

During the pursuit, both passengers remaining in the vehicle were able to jump from the moving car, police said. They were each treated for scrapes and bruises but were otherwise unharmed.

Ali has been booked on suspicion of kidnapping and felony evading arrest, with bail set at $100,000, police said.
