Arrest Made in Early Morning Brawl that Left Man Critically Injured
Police say that a Huntington Beach man threw the punch that caused the victim to strike his head on the ground.
Newport Beach police have arrested a Huntington Beach man suspected of sending another man to the hospital during an early morning brawl on the Balboa Peninsula, according to a news release.
Police say Jeffrey Charles Sherwood, 26, hit a 29-year-old man during the fight, which happened about 2 a.m. today near 31st Street and Newport Boulevard. The blow knocked the man to the ground and he struck his head, according to the release. The man was taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, the release said.
Sherwood was arrested on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury, the release said.
