Barefoot Woman Who Crawled Under Cars On Freeway Killed: Police
A barefoot woman who apparently crawled under cars on the 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa was hit by a vehicle Saturday, authorities say.
COSTA MESA, CA — A woman who apparently crawled under vehicles barefoot on the 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa was hit by a vehicle and killed Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The incident was reported at around 8:07 p.m. from the southbound side of the freeway just north of Fairview Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told CHP officers that the woman appeared to be 50 years old, was wearing tan clothing and no shoes, and was yelling at and hitting passing vehicles on the freeway. According to the witness, the woman was even crawling under cars on the freeway.

At 8:12 p.m., the woman was hit by a vehicle in the middle lanes, according to the CHP’s log.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and was not immediately identified.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at 8:45 p.m. shutting down southbound lanes in the area.
