Bicyclist Critically Injured In Costa Mesa
A bicycle rider, riding the wrong way against traffic, suffered serious injuries Wednesday when she collided with a truck.

COSTA MESA, CA — A Costa Mesa woman was seriously injured Wednesday when the bicycle she was riding suffered a collision with a pickup truck in Costa Mesa.
The accident occurred just before 6 a.m. at Newport Boulevard and Cecil Place, said Roxi Fyad of the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The cyclist, a 34-year-old woman whose name was withheld, was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, but is expected to survive, Fyad said.

"It appears (she) was going the wrong way against traffic," she said. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was interviewed by police.
Traffic was routed away from Newport Boulevard north of 22nd Street while an investigation was conducted. Newport was reopened just before 9 a.m.

"The cyclist is now in stable condition," Fyad later reported.
