Blood Urgently Needed In Newport Beach: Blood Drives Near You

Newport Beach residents who donate blood during the month of May will have the chance to win a trip to Seattle.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — As the seasons continue to change, the American Red Cross's need for donated blood remains the same.

"Type O negative blood donors are especially needed right now," an American Red Cross news release said. "Type O negative is the universal blood type and what emergency room personnel reach for when there is no time to determine a patient's blood type, in the most serious situations."

Residents who donate blood from May 1 through May 19 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice, the news release said.

In addition, throughout the entire month of May, blood donors will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to the 2023 MLB All-Star Game in Seattle, Washington.

Residents who donate blood between May 20 and May 31 will receive a free and exclusive Red Cross beach towel.

  • May 20, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., The Crossing Church, 2115 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa.
  • May 22, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Newport Beach Association of Realtors, 401 Old Newport Blvd., Suite 100, Newport Beach.
  • May 23, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Trader Joes, 640 W. 17th St., Costa Mesa.
  • May 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Environmental Nature Center, 1601 E 16th St., Newport Beach.
  • May 31, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., CWS Capital Partners, 12 Corporate Plaza Dr., Newport Beach.
