Body Recovered Off Newport Beach, Could Be Missing Vacationer
The body of a man was found offshore in Newport Beach. Officials believe this could be the man missing since July 1.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A man's body was discovered in the waters off Newport Beach,the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.
On Tuesday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m., OCSD's Duke Helicopter spotted the body floating about 300-500 yards offshore, spokeswoman Carrie Braun told Patch.
"There has been no identification yet," Braun said, however, "OCSD believes that the body could be that of the missing out-of-town swimmer who disappeared one week ago while on vacation with his family."

On July 1, an 18-year-old man from Britain was last seen snorkeling near the pier at 7:15 a.m., Newport Beach Marine Safety Chief Mike Halphide told the Orange County Register.
After an extensive search of the enormous holiday beach crowd, by paddleboard, harbor patrol, helicopter and on the sand, the body was not found until Tuesday, Braun said.
