Car Plunges Off Newport Beach Hillside With 2 People Inside

Orange County rescue crews are working to rescue at least two people inside a car that plunged off a Newport Beach road Tuesday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A car plunged off a Newport Beach road and wound up 120 feet down a steep hillside with at least two people inside, authorities reported Tuesday.

The crash was initially reported shortly after 10:30 a.m. Authorities are currently on the scene near San Joaquin Hills and Spy Glass Hill roads with an Orange County Fire Authority helicopter crew, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

As of 10:35 a.m., one person was successfully hoisted to safety from car. The extent of their injuries are unknown.
