City Deploys Water Quality-Sensing Buoys In Newport Harbor

The mechanisms — known as DataPods — are intended to increase the city's ability to monitor and maintain water quality in Newport Harbor.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The City of Newport Beach just deployed a means of keeping the water at Newport Harbor at its best quality, City Manager Grace Leung said in a statement.

The city recently deployed two state-of-the-art water quality sensing buoys, which are equipped with technology that allows for real-time monitoring of water quality data needed for maintaining a healthy ocean ecosystem, the city said.

The mechanisms — known as DataPods — were released in the Newport Harbor earlier this month.
