Coastal Beach Hazard Released for Orange County Beaches
A coastal beach hazard with high tides Wednesday and Thursday, flooding possible, released by NWS.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Residents of coastal communities should be advised that a coastal hazard has been issued by the National Weather Service.
"Minor tidal overflow is possible on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, caused by high tides reaching 6.7 to 6.8 feet," the NWS said. "There is a better chance of overflow on Thursday morning due to higher surf conditions expected then."
According to the NWS, the beach hazard includes:
- Waves and surf of 2 to 3 feet Wednesday, and 3 to 5 feet on Thursday.
- Orange County beaches could be impacted.
- Timing will be during mid-morning hours on Wednesday and Thursday.
- High tide Wednesday is expected to be 6.7 feet at 7:38 a.m.
- High tide Thursday is expected to be 6.7 feet at 8:22 a.m.
Impacts include flooding of low lying locations, including beach parking lots and beach adjacent boardwalks and streets.

"These high astronomical tides in combination with above normal surf conditions produce minor flooding and coastal officials should take necessary precautionary measures to safeguard their beaches," the NWS said.
