Diary of a Sailor: 'Never Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today'
Newport Harbor High tennis player Kate Knight shares her journal entry for the week ending April 19.

Hi everyone,
Time has flown by extremely fast. Spring break is over and this is the last week of the third quarter. We are three-fourths of the way through the school year and before we know, it summer will be here.
Oddly enough, I went with the new strategy of waiting until Sunday night before school starts to do all of my spring-break homework. Hopefully, everybody else was smart and did theirs in advance, unlike myself, so that they’re not swamped with work. The 10-day break was greatly needed and I have now almost fully caught up on my sleep.

This weekend my tennis club held its annual doubles championships and although I had a tournament of my own, I wasn’t going to miss out on watching some great tennis. I feel enormously grateful that I am able to watch these amazing former college-level tennis players and I learn a ton from just observing them playing. I’m also very appreciative that my tennis club sets me up with so many great matches each week and I get to play some great players. Overall, this break has allowed me to see how really great my club is at getting me intertwined with all the strong competitors and it just makes me even more motivated to go out and play!
In Newport Harbor news, seeing that the boys’ season is about to end, the girls will again begin having regular preseason practices and we are ready to win CIF this fall. It was such a bummer losing in the finals this past season after all our hard work. Wrapping up, hope you all have an exciting week to come!
