Diary of a Sailor: Returning to the Routine
Newport Harbor High tennis player Kate Knight shares her journal entry for the week ending May 13.

Hello Everyone,
This past week has been a success and I feel like I'm getting back on track. With mandarin classes being over and now returning to everyday practice for high school tennis, I am finally getting caught up on my sleep and am getting my homework done in advance. For a few weeks I felt a little jumbled and out of sorts, not finishing schoolwork until that last minute or not going to bed until one in the morning and then waking up again at four. Now I feel like I am back to a routine, I have my entire summer schedule planned out and am looking towards community college classes that I can take over the summer to further my level of understanding in some subjects.
In tennis news, this past weekend I competed in another tournament and had my best results so far in the 16s and under division. I won two rounds and then lost the third to a strong player, getting to play one of my teammates in the second round. It was a new experience playing someone from my tennis team, being friends with someone but still having to be competitive. However, we both played really well and had a very competitive match.

In school news, our high school team is resuming everyday practices again as we are beginning our preseason practice. We are getting the courts completely redone right now and are practicing at a different location every other day as well as conditioning every other day.
It feels good to have everything back to the normal routine and I hope that everyone has a great weekend!
