Police Break Window, Rescue Dog Locked In Hot Car In Newport Beach
Authorities responded to a call regarding a dog in distress inside a locked vehicle with the windows rolled up on Wednesday afternoon.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A dog was left inside a locked vehicle with the windows rolled up in Newport Beach Wednesday afternoon, the Newport Beach Police Department said.
Animal Control officers responded to a call regarding the dog and upon arrival, found the dog panting heavily while locked in the vehicle.
"Despite using all available resources to locate the vehicle's owner, including searching throughout the shopping center, officers were unable to find the owner," police said in a statement.

In response, officers were forced to break the vehicle's window to rescue the dog.
Once freed from the vehicle, animal control officers gave aid to the pup.

It was not immediately known when or if the dog was reunited with its owner.
