Dog Saved From Intense Newport Beach Fire
The 8 year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Captain was covered in soot and had to spend the night receiving veterinary care.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA - An 8-year-old dog has been released from veterinary care today after spending the night under observation. The Cavalier King Charles Spanielnamed Captain was wet and covered in soot when he was pulled from an apartment fire in Newport Beach Wednesday night.
Firefighters arriving at the blaze in the 1700 Sherrington Place were met with heavy black smoke coming from a locked apartment. The firefighters forced their way in and searched for occupants. Only the dog was home at the time.
No firefighters were injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Damage is estimated at some $50,000.
