Dolphins This Week, Orcas Last Week: Marine Mammals At Play Off Newport Beach, CDM
A rare sight in Newport Beach's bay, dolphins were caught on camera this week by wildlife photographer Carrie Garfield.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Dolphins appeared this week in Newport Beach's bay, wildlife photographer Carrie Garfield told Patch.
The dolphins were seen swimming as Garfield was out for her morning boat ride. She captured this common dolphin's dorsal fin as it glided across the water.
Garfield has recently witnessed the visit of Orcas —also called Killer Whales — off the coast of Corona Del Mar one week ago.

"I was in my boat when I saw two of them," she told us.
Garfield was not in a hurry that day, and enjoyed the sight of the two large marine mammals swimming on a foggy Orange County morning.

The sight of Orcas in Orange County remains one of the rarest for wildlife photographers to capture.
"It seems like a miracle every time we see a Killer Whale," she said. But the spotting of common dolphins in the bay was also something she treasures, adding that it was "cool and rare."
