Donate Blood, Get An Amazon Gift Card: Drives Near Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach residents who donate blood during the month of February will automatically receive a $10 Amazon gift card, the American Red Cross said in a statement.

In addition, residents who donate blood during February will be entered to win a trip for two to Clearwater Beach, Florida.

"As the American Red Cross continues to monitor seasonal challenges that could impact the blood supply, donors are urged to make and keep appointments to help prevent a shortage in the weeks to come," an American Red Cross statement said.

Donors of all blood types — especially type O blood donors — and platelet donors are being requested by the American Red Cross.

In Newport Beach, residents can schedule to make an appointment to donate blood here.

The American Red Cross will host blood drives at the following locations this February:

• Feb. 20, 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. — American Legion Post 291, 215 15th St., Newport Beach.
• Feb. 22, 9:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. — City of Seal Beach, 3131 N Gate Rd., Seal Beach.
• Feb. 28, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. — Care Partners, 150 Paularino Ave, Suite D-182, Costa Mesa.
