Driver Injured When Car Slams Tree In Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A person was injured Monday morning after the car they were driving in crashed in Newport Beach, authorities said.

The crash was reported during the early morning hours of Monday, April 8, when Newport Beach authorities responded to a single vehicle crash on Jamboree Road and Camelback Street, the Newport Beach Fire Department reported.

Upon arriving, authorities found a blue sedan with its hood crushed in and the driver, who was pinned under the dashboard.

Due to the quick actions of the Newport Beach Fire Department, engine and truck crews worked quickly to extract the driver and move them to a nearby hospital.

"Thanks to NBFD training and teamwork, it took crews less than 11 minutes from the arrival on scene to perform the extrication and start transport," the department said in a social media statement.
